The Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Engle
A native Texan and “cradle” (lifelong) Episcopalian, Cindy was born Waco, and grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast, living in Houston, Corpus Christi, Victoria, and (again) Houston. Raised mostly in “high church” expressions of Anglicanism, Cindy has also experienced the gamut of Episcopal formation, from Renewal to Gospel to Christian Community.
Following seminary, she relocated to Arizona and worked as a lay pastoral assistant in several churches while awaiting ordination. She subsequently lived in England for four years, earning a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (Old Testament) at the University of Cambridge. She has been teaching for Fuller Theological Seminary for the past four years, and will assist at the Iona School of Ministry in the Diocese of Texas.
She loves music of all kinds, exploring new places, traveling and (easy!) gardening. Delighted to be back in her native Texas, and most recently arrived from St. Mark’s, Beaumont, she serves part-time at both St. Paul’s, Navasota, and St. Francis of Assisi, Prairie View.
