St. Paul's Episcopal Church, First United Methodist, and First Presbyterian Churches joined forces to host a food drive to support the Navasota Christian Community Service Center on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

The local food pantry was in need of donations this summer.

"We found out the food pantry is low on supplies for the summer and Grimes County has such a high rate of public dependency, that we felt like we could help. A lot of our local people depend on the food pantry, " explained Rev. Dr. Cindy Engle, St. Paul's Episcopal Church Rector.

More than 1,000 pounds of food, and $4,000 in monetary donations was collected during the half day long food drive. After the success of this year's food drive, the churches plan to continue to have a summer food drive on an annual basis.
