Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despaire, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,

grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled as to console;

to be understood as to understand;

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

In Celebration of The Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Paul's Episcopal Chruch in Navasota, Texas has it's Annual Blessing of the Animals Event on the first Saturday of October every year. The service is held at St. Paul's outdoor altar where several pets of all shapes, sizes and species Are blessed.

In 2017, we experience a scheduling issue. We were not able to have our blessing event at the church on our usual day due to many parishioners already being committed to other things. We received a request from a local Vet Clinic to come to their facility to bless their animals, and we accepted. Taking it a little further, we called the local animal shelter, equine hospital and other vet clinics to see if they would like us to come out and do blessings at their offices as well. Most accepted, and the "Moble Animal Blessings" were held on Wednesday, October 4th. Rev. Cindy blessed 16 dogs, 20 cats, 2 parrots, 1 pony and even blessed one of the facilites as well that day. It was such a success that next year, we would like to try someting new again! Please visit our Photo Gallery to see the photos!!!
